In this paper we present the VIRTUAL PRIVATE SECURE INTERNET (VPSI) technology concept and its applications for securing online banking applications. VPSI will change the way we look at security and render earlier security technologies and protocols like the SSL, IPSEC and VPN obsolete.
The mutual authentication and encryption protocol - RMAKE - an integrated component of the VPSI technology framework currently works transparently over and above the existing HTTP/HTTPS/TCP-IP/UDP/IPSEC protocols.
As per the authors, the client side application model of browsers will evolve substantially and move towards the now popular ‘APP’ model popularized by APPLE in recent years. However, any such application model has to work on a sound underlying security architecture/framework which the current internet infrastructure does not provide. The VPSI architecture will significantly change this and bring about the much awaited security layer on the internet to realize the complete potential of client side internet enabled applications.
